The initial concept for Quirk emerged as an opportunity to
breathe life into our more unconventional works—to showcase the unique,
experimental, and audacious pieces that might otherwise remain hidden in studio
corners.
These mixed-media works draw from multiple reference points:
a rural childhood, experiences with farm animal husbandry, critical
reflections on Catholic doctrine, and explorations of gender
dynamics and relationship structures.
The Drover 2022
In this second version titled, The Drover (as opposed to the Drover’s Wife) she is featured with her left hand placed firmly on her hip. This Drover embodies a wilful attitude of independence, strength, and endurance.
A homage to all women, as she simultaneously represents the hardships women encounter and the resilience they possess.
