The initial concept for Quirk emerged as an opportunity to breathe life into our more unconventional works—to showcase the unique, experimental, and audacious pieces that might otherwise remain hidden in studio corners.

These mixed-media works draw from multiple reference points: a rural childhood, experiences with farm animal husbandry, critical reflections on Catholic doctrine, and explorations of gender dynamics and relationship structures.

Quest, swaggie route. 2025 Mixed media on old tarpaulin. 84x124cms

It was common to have swagmen arrive at our farmhouse when we were kids. There was a stone placed on top of the boundary fence post that allegedly, was an indication of a friendly place for travellers.
