Droving at Lake Cowal 2023 oil & pigments on aluminium 90x122cm

Lake Cowal was once a beautiful seasonal wetland 40kms west of Bimbi.  My Dad used to drove sheep there, in dry times. There is still a tiny drovers hut there where he camped for weeks called Tony's hut. Sadly, the whole area is now dominated by a massive Gold mine called Evolution (if you dont mind).

2024 Calleen Art Award @ Cowra Regional Gallery

I enter the Calleen Art Award every year. I dont always get hung, but It's the closest regional gallery to my hometown of Bimbi, in the Weddin Shire. Even though today I live in Brunswick Melbourne, inspiration for my artwork often emanates from this part of the world, the south western slopes and plains of NSW, Wiradjuri country.

These pieces seek to illuminate the often-overlooked beauty in the everyday nuances of our surroundings, capturing and honouring the tactile and kinetic essence that defines our natural and cultivated spaces.
